Congratulations you just got engaged! This is one of life’s most exciting moments. You have found the person that you are going to spend the rest of your life with. The first thing that you should do is take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment. Now panic!…. OK now that you have had your moment of panic about planning your wedding let’s talk about your first step.
There are many aspects of planning a wedding, but let’s start with first things first. You have to pick a date. The date is the first thing that needs to be done, because that is going to determine the things that your choose for all the other aspects of your wedding.
You will need to sit down with your fiancé…. OK say it again fiancé. I know that sounds exciting right? The first thing that you will want to discuss is what time of year you want to get married. Keep in mind that the summer months are considered weddings season, and everything that has to do with a wedding is about 100% more expensive then it would be any other time of the year.
Once you have picked the time of year you want to have your wedding, let’s decide how long you want to wait. Do you want to get married within the next year or wait? Let’s say that it is September, and you want to get married in April. You need to decide if you want to plan a wedding in seven months or wait until the next year.
Next you have decided what year you are getting married in you need to pick the day. Look at the calendar for the April that you are getting married in. You need to pick at least three different days that work for you. Have your number one choice, and then have choices two and three just in case the first day does not work for some reason. Then you want to call both sets of parents. Talk the dates over with the parents and make sure that all the dates would work for them.
After this has been completed you have your date, but you do not have a location. You do not want to have a set date until you have booked your location, and they have the day that you want available. Mark these dates on the calendar and move on to the next step. Your budget.
