Now you’re engaged, you have selected a few dates, and you have gotten your budget, you may ask what’s next. Location of course!! This is one of the most important selections you will make when it comes to your wedding. This is what will set the tone for all of the pictures, and really the overall look of the wedding as a whole.
The first thing to consider when selecting a location is the time of year that you want to get married. If you want to get married in December for example, you might not want to get married outside. There are many beautiful places to get married in the Northern Nevada area, Lake Tahoe or Genoa are great examples. David Wally’s is a great place to get married either inside, or out. The Chism House in Reno, Nevada is also a great place if you are looking to get married outside.
Research is very important in this step of the planning process. You want to look online for any websites that the location has, and read testimonials of other couples who got married there. Also call before you go to see the location, talk to the person who schedules the events. See if any of the dates that you have preselected are available, and ask any questions that you may have about the property, like how much it costs. After you have done the preliminary steps then make an appointment to see the property.
Please remember that whatever location you choose you will need to put down some kind of deposit to hold the location. Be prepared for this when you go to look at the location. The longer you wait to put the deposit down, the less likely the property will be available. You might want to ask what the deposit is on your initial phone call.
Remember that if you are not sure, don’t make any promises to pay. You want to be positive that this is where you want to get married before you pay any money that you may not get back. Look at two or three different locations, and get in your mind what you think your wedding will look like at that location. If there is a location you absolutely love, and it is available on the first date you selected, pay the deposit.
Congratulations, you have now selected your location, and you have confirmed the date. The three hardest and sometimes most frustrating parts of the wedding are complete. Now you can sit back and enjoy the ride.
