Now that your location is booked, the next step is to decide what to feed your guests. Most locations that provide wedding services also have food that is included in the package, but not all. In the cases where food is not part of your location, you would need to look at an outside caterer. Selecting the food that you are going to serve your guests can be one of the most fun parts of the planning process.
The first thing that you will need to get this step moving is to know how many guests you are looking at having at your wedding. This is a decision that you would have made during the budgeting process. This is not the point in the planning process where your need to know who you are going to invite, you just need to know how many people you are going to invite. Also keep in mind that you are going to need to feed the people who are working your wedding, like your wedding planner, and DJ.
In this step you need to pay close attention to your budget. Where ever you get your food from, they all charge per person. This is way you need to know how many people you are going to invite. Some foods are also more expensive than others. If you want to serve different types of fish you are going to pay far more, then if you served chicken.
If you are going to select a private caterer, you are going to have the opportunity to taste test all of the items that you are going to serve your guests. On the other hand when a location includes food you don’t always get this opportunity. Most locations have two or three preset menus that you will get to choose from, and they include the total cost, which includes tip. With a private caterer you will have to add the tip in yourself so you need to make sure that this is still within your budget.
This can be one of the hardest steps in the wedding planning process, because you have to really be diligent with sticking to your budget. Food costs can get out of hand very quickly, and need to be reined in as much as possible. There is no need to break the bank when it comes to feeding your guests. You can have a great meal, and still stay well within your budget. Have fun with this process, and you will have great food to serve your guests.
